Exceptionally spacious inside and out, the many amenities include a large free-form swimming pool and children’s pool, a private tennis court, a gymnasium/fitness room and a games room with snooker table and wet bar.
The six air conditioned bedrooms all have queen-size teak 4-poster beds, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, TV, VCR and mini-fridge. There is an audio-visual system throughout the villa, with satellite channels and high speed internet access. The villa is fully staffed, but guests can choose to dine at the nearby Hotel Tugu.
The exceptional Hotel Tugu is owned by an Indonesian who has been collecting antiques since the early 1960s and the hotel is home to one of the largest original art collections in South East Asia.
The main building, the Bale Agung, features distinctive architecture inspired by a secluded village in Central Bali, whereas some of the public areas are original hundreds-years-old structures moved in their entirety into the property.
The suites are housed in individual buildings tucked in lush tropical gardens and natural lotus pond facing the Indian Ocean. Two of the most luxurious suites are dedicated to famous artists who lived in Bali: the Le Mayeur Villa, named after the Belgian painter, Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur de Merprès, who made Bali his home in 1932, and the Walter Spies Pavilion, dedicated to the legendary artist Walter Spies, who had lived in Kampoeng Djojodipoeran in Jogjakarta between 1924 and 1927, and made a great contribution to Balinese art.
Dining options at the Tugu Bali are numerous, from the gigantic entrance lobby, with subtly placed dining tables facing the gardens, to a romantic spot within the gardens, the quiet beach, or the private dining pavilion for two above the lotus pond, surrounded by nature, torch lights and candles. Villa guests can also visit the Waroeng Djamoe Spa at Hotel Tugu Bali, a wonderful experience, where authentic treatments from Java and Bali are used to pamper both body and mind.
