Having exhibited Verdura jewellery in London for 25 years, Harry Fane opened the Verdura London showroom in the autumn of 2007. The second floor private showroom on Duke Street, St. James’s, SW1 is a comfortable and discreet environment in which to view these beautiful pieces of jewellery.
Born into Italian aristocracy in 1898, Duke Fulco di Verdura began his extraordinary career when Coco Chanel discovered his immense talent for design.

[CONT] ...would only have been seen on royalty. He created jewellery that broke with tradition – elegantly and exuberantly. As a result, he is often described as the ‘founder of modern jewellery design.’
In 1934, seeking fame and fortune, Verdura moved to New York where he set up his private showroom which soon became the ‘mecca’ for society jewellery lovers from Hollywood to Paris. Fulco mixed with the fast set and they soon became his clientele. Amongst his friends and clients he counted Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Katherine Hepburn, Babe Paley and the Duchess of Windsor, to name but a few.
He was a prolific artist and having retained 10,000 of his original meticulous sketches, each piece comes to fruition precisely as he envisioned it.
Verdura was capable of marrying a remarkable aesthetic sense with formidable craftsmanship, he yielded astonishing results: witty and whimsical, tantalizing to the eye and always flattering to the wearer.
